Discussion
The full extent of the pit was difficult to define on the ground, so only
a small part was excavated, to establish the stratigraphic relationships.
The single fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3) with 15% chalk
inclusions (0.5-1.5cm in diameter). No daub or charcoal flecking was noted.
The pit was cut into hillwash and into natural chalk, with a flat-based
V profile (although this is based on only a partial excavation).
