Pit
Phasing
No finds were recovered from this pit. The feature was cut by ditch 012AD05066,
although the section indicates that it was cut by
the final phase of the ditch only, with the pit possibly cutting into earlier
phases. Although the plan indicates the pit extended across the length
of ditch 012AD05066, the
section has it on the eastern side only, where it probably also cut
away ditch 012AD05222.

Discussion
The single fill was 012AD05219, a sandy silty loam
(Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 50% chalk inclusions (1-10cm in diameter).
No daub or charcoal flecking was noted.
The pit was cut into fragmentary chalk, with a U-shaped profile. Although
the plan indicates the pit extended across the length of ditch 012AD05066,
the section indicates that it was present on the eastern side only, where
it probably also cut away ditch 012AD05222.
