The pit contained no diagnostic material culture. It cut through the late Roman surface 012AD00054, and is thus either very late Roman or Anglian in date.

Discussion

This ovate pit contained a single fill, a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/2), with between 5-10% chalk inclusions. Both daub and charcoal flecking were noted (5 charcoal samples were taken).

The pit was cut through surface 012AD00054 into angular chalk natural, with a wide V profile.
