Discussion

This was the earliest of three phases (with 012AD06128 and 012AD06126) of enclosure ditches with an east-west orientation.  They apparently do not  form part of one of the major enclosures to the north, although they mirror the alignment of 012AD07212 located just 4 metres to the north, and may indicate a replacement for the eastern part of this enclosure. It is also possible that they form the southern part of an entrance with ditch 012AD06082. Unlike the 2 later phases, this ditch was characterised by the lack of finds, with only one object and one animal bone recovered. The fill was a sandy clay loam (Munsell 10YR 3/3).

The ditch was cut into hillwash, with a U-shaped profile.
