Discussion

Only a small section of the lower part of this pit survived, as is was almost completely cut away by pit 012AD05426. The fill of the pit consisted mainly (up to 70%) of a redeposited chalk natural in a light (Munsell 10YR 4/2) sandy clay loam matrix. This type of fill in other parts of the site tend to indicate quarry pit activity, although not enough remained of this pit to allow such an interpretation to stand.

The pit was cut into fragmentd chalk natural, with an irregular profile, again perhaps indicating quarrying activity.
