Discussion
Although classified as a small pit in the original context notes, the evidence
points to this being a post hole, particularly with the chalk fragments
indicating post packing around it. It is possible that only the post pipe
was excavated. The fill was a silty clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3),
with 30% angular chalk inclusions (mostly less than 3cm in diameter).
The feature was cut into ditch fill 012AB00117 in the south and into
hillwash in the north, with a U-shaped profile.
