Discussion

 A NE/SW aligned ditch in the south of area 12AB. At the time of excavation, the ditch was thought to have a structural relationship with Grubenhaus 012AB07003, possibly some sort of drainage gully from the north/west side. Despite the material evidence indicating a Saxon date for the ditch, there is no real evidence to support a direct link with the structure as the feature was cut away by ditch 012AB07188 at the point of intersection with the Grubenhaus. The ditch may also have been wider than planned, the section through the eastern point clearly shows it being cut away by ditches 012AB00668 and 012AB00690, both beneath 012AB07188 to the south. The ditch cut through small north/south aligned ditch 012AB00674 and curvilinear ditch 012AB07186.
