Pit Pair

Discussion

One of a pair of pits (with 011AE00429) which were found during the excavation of a machine trench (011AE00423). The finds of flint and the dark (Munsell 10YR32), loamy nature of the soil indicated that both of these pits were Neolithic in date. A feature of Neolithic pits across the site is that they were often found in pairs, the significance of which is not fully understood.
