Discussion

Two trenches were machine excavated near the end of the 1990 season in an attempt to define the eastern return of the north-south ditches aligned ditches excavated to the south. The ditches were known to have turened to an east-west alignment from the AML geophysical survey. The trenches were unsuccessful in defining the ditches. The only features which were uncovered were a prehistoric pit pair (011AE00427 and 011AE00429), both in trench 011AE00423. No finds were recovered from 011AE00422, and very little (4 objects and 4 animal bones) from 011AE00423. Of these, 3 objects were of a prehistoric date.
