Discussion

Originally discovered by a trial trench (2M) in 1982. This is one of the few Grubenhauser to have a direct statigraphic link with a post hole structure (002M 00500). Although not observed during the excavation phase, it is believed that the post hole structure replaces the grubenhaus, perhaps maintaining the function of the structure over time. It is also of note that one of the few other instances of a presumed direct replacement occurs just to the north-east of this structure, involving grubenhaus 002CC00469 and post hole structure 002CC00251.
