Discussion

This grubenhaus is unusual in that it is one of four which appear to have a direct relationship with a post hole structure (Master 002CC00653). It is very shallow, probably due to plough truncation, and only one post hole was detected. The post hole was unusually large for a grubenhaus, and the feature was so shallow that some doubt was expressed in the field as to whether it was a grubenhaus at all. It is also oval in shape, rather than the more usual sub-rectangular shape, although this might be a function of the plough truncation. There were only a small number (21) of finds.
