?Bos Primigenius Skeleton (partial)

Discussion

The skeleton was located on the northern edge of the trench across the stream channel deposits. The context record for this skeleton indicates that before it was identified, many bones were lifted under the number 002CA00229, although these do not appear in the animal bone database. All of the bone was brittle, with some damaged by the removal of the surrounding iron pan. The record indicated that ribs and vertebrae were present (once again only a single atlas has been recorded in the animal bone database).

The skeleton was sealed by two stream channels (002CA00227 and 002CA00437). It was believed that its stratigraphic position and exceptional size indicated that the animal was a bos primigenius, although this has not yet been confirmed.
