The find of Niedermendig lava, though not conclusive, indicates an Anglian date for this feature.

Discussion

A short segment of ditch which initially follows the south-west/north-east orientation of both 012AD08341 and 012AD07219 to the west, before turning to a south-east/north-west orientation and cutting through 012AD07219. The fill was a loamy sand (Munsell colour varying from 10YR 3/3 to 10YR 4/3) with 25% chalk inclusions in the southern half, and 5% inclusions in the northern half. This difference in inclusion rate is due to the parent material into which the ditch is cut, being a fragmented chalk in the south and sand and gravel in the north. The ditch was plough truncated, and this may explain the lack of finds.
