No material culture was recovered from the surface, as it remained unexcavated. A sherd of pottery was noted as being embedded in the surface, but this was not lifted.

Discussion

The surface was found during the removal of cleaning spit 012AC00363. It was never fully defined, and remained unexcavated. It consisted of worn rounded chalk pebbles and some larger (up to 8cm) natural chalk fragments. It was cut by post hole 012AD00386.
