Discussion

The fill of the slot was a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/2) with 5% chalk inclusions. Both daub and charcoal flecking was noted. Although bone was recovered from the fill, none could be identified to a species. The feature certainly terminated in the west, although the eastern end was fully cut away by 012AD07227.

The slot was cut into chalk at the eastern end and hillwash at the western end, with an irregular profile.
