Slot
Phasing
The only diagnostic material culture from this feature were two late Roman
pot sherds (apart from a residual flint blade). No relationship with the
possible Grubenhaus 012AD07032 to
the north-west was established.
Discussion
This shallow slot was located right on the eastern edge of the excavated
area. Its single fill was a sandy loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with
10-15% chalk inclusions (0.5-7cm in diameter). No daub or charcoal flecking
were noted.
The slot was cut into natural chalk, and may have had a U-shaped profile,
although the feature was so plough-truncated that this was difficult to
ascertain.
