Slot

Phasing

The only diagnostic material culture found were four later Roman pot sherds. The slot was sealed by spit 012AD05468, but no stratigraphic relationship was established with the pit 012AD05572 immediately to the north.

Discussion

This north-south aligned slot contained a single fill, a sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 4/3), with 10% chalk inclusions. No daub, but some charcoal flecking was noted.

The slot was cut into fragmented chalk, with a rough wide-V profile (although almost vertical on the western edge).
