Discussion

The single fill was a dark sandy clay loam (Munsell colour 10YR 3/2), with 10% chalk inclusions. Occasional daub and charcoal flecking was noted. Only four animal bones were recovered (3 sheep/goat and a single domestic fowl).

The pit was cut into fragmented chalk, with a shallow, irregular profile.
