Phasing

The only diagnostic find was a single sherd of late Romano-British pottery. Apart fom being sealed by spit 012AD05105, the feature had no other stratigraphic relationships.

Discussion

This was an exceptionally difficult feature to define. The single fill (012AD05121) was a loamy sand (Musell colour 10YR 4/2) with 5% chalk inclusions. Both charcoal and daub flecking were noted (one daub sample taken).

The feature was cut into sand and gravel. It was quite severely affected by animal burrowing, and its profile was difficult to establish.
