Discussion

 A small pit in the north of area 12AB, cut through ditches 012AB00753, 012AB00755 and 012AB00854. Three fills were distinguished; a primary fill of a dump of burnt material containing charcoal, red chalk and slag (012AB00781), a secondary fill of red material in a silty clay loam matrix (012AB00780) and a final fill of silty clay loam with little red material (012AB00779).
