Discussion

A small pit or kiln in the south/east corner of 11CD. It was initially noted in 1990 as a dark (Munsell colour 7.5YR 2/0) silty clay layer. The pit/kiln cut through enclosure ditches 011CD07108 and 011CD07109 and was lined with black clay. The fill contained a large amount of charcoal, one late Roman hand-built sherd, a number of undated pottery sherds and four small, fragmentary animal bones stained black by the clay.
