Discussion

The spit was excavated after the removal of a layer of stones (011CD20000). Some definition of features was achieved, but it was necessary to take off another spit (011CD05577) before a number of ditches and post holes became visible. Only 4 sherds of pottery were recovered from this spit, all of them Roman (including 2 Samian sherds). No animal bones were recovered.
